Washington, DC –The Stimson Center and Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation today announce a new partnership in their shared effort to address the impact of climate change. The two organizations will collaborate on projects and events, engage in joint projects, and share information and lessons learned.

The initial focus of the partnership will be Stimson’s Alliance for a Climate Resilient Earth (ACRE) project. ACRE is a forum for collaboration and coordination between political, business, and policy leaders grappling with the challenge of building climate resilient critical infrastructure. It provides a platform for members to provide direction and help drive the global climate resilience movement, to share best practices, data and lessons learned, and to identify opportunities for substantive collaboration. The Stimson Center announced ACRE earlier this year and counts scores of global businesses and organizations as members. More about ACRE: www.stimson.org/project/acre/

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation was created by His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and is active in the fields of climate change, renewable energy, water, preservation of the environment, and sustainable development. The Foundation raises awareness of the impact of human activities on the natural environment and promotes outstanding initiatives in order to encourage more environmentally friendly behavior. Stimson Center President and CEO, Brian Finlay, said: “Today we are experiencing the harsh realities of climate change firsthand and it is clear that we cannot tackle this threat in isolation. This new partnership will bring new experience and resources to our climate resilience projects and increase their capacity to address this existential threat. The Foundation has a remarkable track record of investment in climate change, resource management, and energy, issues that we are likewise focused on at the Stimson Center. I’m grateful to the Foundation and HSH Prince Albert II for their leadership on these essential questions.”

Olivier Wenden, Vice-President and CEO of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, said: “Over the years, our ambition has always been to unite scientists, political leaders, economic players and representatives of civil society around the essential objective of preserving nature. The challenge of climate change is a major threat that jeopardizes our future, requiring more ambitious decisions at both political and economic levels.  Today, we must work together to make our societies more resilient and inclusive. The difficult times we are going through should make us aware of this need and shed light on the sustainable path we need to follow, on a global scale.

The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation is delighted to work with the Stimson Center towards this joint objective thanks to the sharing of knowledge and best practices, essential conditions for developing effective and appropriate measures in a climate changing world.”
