But Yuki Tatsumi of the Stimson Center Washington said there was little reason to suspect that Abe will face a revolt from such factions. In August, Abe faced no such resistance when he declared, on the 70thanniversary of World War II’s end, that Japan had inflicted “immeasurable damage and suffering” through its actions.
