Yuki Tatsumi, Senior Associate and the director of the Japan project, was recently featured on the news network channel China Central Television (CCTV), and discussed Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Washington DC to meet with President Barack Obama.
During her interview, Ms. Tatsumi argued that Abe’s objective in meeting President Obama is get US-Japan relations back on the right track. Specifically, Ms.Tatsumi discussed Abe’s political missions, including winning Upper house elections in the summer and implementing his plan for Abenomics by increasing the inflation target for the Bank of Japan. She also discussed his plans to improve Japan’s relations with its East Asian neighbors, China and South Korea, despite their existing perceptions that they have regarding his ideology.
