Stimson Center’s Farwa Aamer sits down with Ambassador Tanja Miskova and Ms. Alina Belskaia to discuss how the KAS-Stimson pre-conference study highlights water security challenges in the Himalayan region, the Middle East & North Africa, and Central Asia. The guests will also assess how the EU is working to advance sustainable development and expand diplomatic initiatives on transboundary water governance.

Ambassador Tanja Miskova is Ambassador in charge of water diplomacy and circular economy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia. During her diplomatic career she served as Director General for Multilateral Affairs and Development Cooperation, as Head of Department for Emerging Challenges, as Ambassador to Egypt, as well as the Diplomatic Adviser to the President of Slovenia.

Alina Belskaia currently works as a Political Adviser in the office of the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Ambassador Terhi Hakala at the European External Action Service. She has more than 15 years of experience in European Common Foreign and Security Policy, crisis management and conflict prevention, and security sector reform. Her geographic specialization includes the South Caucasus and Central Asia. She has extensive experience with the EU CFSP missions as well as the OSCE, she also for internationally recognized think tanks such as the German Marshall Fund of the United States and International Crisis Group.
