Juliet Weis (she/her) is a Research Associate in the Protecting Civilians and Human Security Program at the Stimson Center in Washington, DC. Her professional and academic work has covered topics ranging from protection of civilians in UN peacekeeping operations to civil society and local community engagement with multilateral institutions, peacebuilding, international security, conflict resolution, and women, peace, and security. She has conducted research in conflict-affected settings, organized and contributed to multi-stakeholder dialogues on civilian protection and women, peace and security, and exchanged on contemporary multilateral issues with UN member states in New York, DC, and internationally. She maintains a focus on peace operations, mechanisms and tools for conflict prevention, and emerging and future scenarios that require protection capacities. Her research projects have covered situations in Cyprus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Lebanon, Mali, and South Sudan, among other contexts.
Juliet holds a Master of International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Vassar College
