Established in 2019, the Stimson Center’s Blockchain in Practice Program tests the potential for Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) platforms to increase transparency and security in nuclear safeguards, nuclear security, and the trade of dual-use materials. 

International security regimes face the common challenge of ensuring the integrity of data, information flow, and traceability. DLT offers a novel solution to this challenge and Stimson is at the forefront of studying and socializing the technology among stakeholders and testing it in real-life scenarios.

The program is among the first to engage international and regional non-proliferation and disarmament organizations, national authorities and DLT companies on the applications of DLT for non-proliferation. The video provides a brief description of the program and its research.
