Senior Associate Richard Cronin discuses Stimson’s work in the Lower Mekong Basin in Southeast Asia. There are highly contested plans over the construction of up to eleven hydropower dams on the lower half of Mekong River. These dams threaten the food security and wellbeing of millions — as well as the stability of the fast-developing region that has only recently emerged from decades of warfare.

“Up to 60 million people depend on the Mekong and it’s natural bounty for their food security, their livelihoods, and their nutrition,” said Cronin.
