Drought in 2019 has left the “floating village” of Kampong Khleang along Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake dry when the ground underneath the village should be submerged at this time of year. Now should be peak fishing season for fishers in the village, but its fishers are likely unable to get their boats into the lake due to low levels. Stimson compares this November 2019 image to a similar date in 2017, since 2017 was the closest normal year for precipitation in the Mekong.
