Humphrey, Stimson Launch New Strategic Partnership

In

The Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota and the Stimson Center announced a new strategic partnership today that will enhance collaboration on programming, outreach, and education between the two institutions. The new partnership between one of the nation’s leading public affairs programs and top-ranked think tanks will leverage each institution’s groundbreaking research and shared strategic visions developing innovative solutions in a changing world.

“Humphrey has a long history of shaping public policy thinking at every level of government, and a proud record of educating public policy students who are playing important roles in governance at the local, national and international levels,” said Stimson President and CEO Brian Finlay. “Through new, exciting collaborations, this partnership increases the impact of two incredibly effective institutions and our diverse, forward-looking pragmatic research.”

The proposed collaboration will expand the reach of Humphrey and the Stimson Center, geographically and programmatically. The partnership will include research collaborations involving Stimson experts, Humphrey faculty and Humphrey professional students and a joint event series, and offer residency to visiting Humphrey experts and student interns at Stimson’s Washington, D.C. office.

“Stimson’s reputation for excellence and independence is second to none in Washington,” said Eric Schwartz Professor and Dean of the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. “This partnership gives Humphrey researchers and students alike the opportunity to work at the center of policymaking in the heart of the nation’s capital.”

To mark the new partnership, Humphrey and Stimson will host an inaugural event on November 17 titled, “Humanitarian Crises in the Middle East and Africa: Examining Causes, Consequences and Policy Choices.” Registration for the event and additional event details are available at the link here.
