Making Public-Private Security Cooperation More Efficient, Effective, and Sustainable: Recommendations on the Task Force

in Program

Following over 18 months of collaboration with high-tech manufacturers and service providers, transport and logistics firms, and insurance providers, Stimson’s Partners in Prevention Task Force issued its recommendations to US government and industry stakeholders for targeted, pragmatic steps to partnerships that better serve the interests of both constituencies. The Task Force was chaired by Jay Cohen (RADM, USN, Ret) and included business leaders with senior-level experience at organizations including Allergan, Liberty Mutual, Maersk Line, and the US Council for International Business.

Engaging industry is now essential in addressing transnational security challenges ranging from the proliferation of dual-use goods and technologies to trafficking in drugs, arms and other contraband. The Stimson Center and the National Foreign Trade Council held a discussion on how government and industry can more effectively promote both security and economic competitiveness for sustainable public-private partnerships.
