Alexander is a Research Analyst with the North Africa, Mediterranean, and the Sahel Program at the Stimson Center. Before joining Stimson, he was the Senior Associate for the Middle East Program at the Wilson Center where he worked as the chief editor of publications including MENA360°, the Ehneduanna blog and Policy Briefs series. Alex also led the work of the Middle East Workforce Development Initiative for which he authored original research and hosted the podcast, “Riyada: Business Tech and Entrepreneurship in MENA.” In addition, Alex organized the Agents of Change Youth Fellowship in collaboration with the Environmental Change and Security Program. Alex was involved in the organization and launch of the program’s many publications, events, and initiatives and prepared the program’s annual budget and grant reports.
Alex’s expertise includes labor, education, migration, refugees, economic development, entrepreneurship, business and investment in the Middle East and North Africa region. He has participated and spoken at international fora including the Arab League’s Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development in Tunis, Tunisia and at the Syrian Academic Forum for Innovation, Education, Reconstruction, and Reform in Damascus, Syria.
Alex earned an MA and MPA from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He has lived in Morocco and Jordan and is professionally proficient in Arabic.
