The Stimson Center announced today that Joshua T. White has been promoted to Senior Associate and Co-Director of the South Asia program. White will lead the program with Stimson Co-Founder and Senior Associate Michael Krepon, which in 2015 will focus on reducing nuclear dangers between India and Pakistan, advancing regional stability, and working with the next generation of strategic thinkers on the subcontinent. 
 
“Joshua is extremely gifted,” said Stimson Co-Founder Michael Krepon. “He has exceptional analytical and people skills. Having lived and worked in India and Pakistan, he knows firsthand the complexity of the security environment there. He’s one of the leading strategic analysts in the field today.”   
 
Prior to joining Stimson in 2014, White served as Senior Advisor for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, a position he held in conjunction with an International Affairs Fellowship from the Council on Foreign Relations. While at the Pentagon, he covered a wide range of defense issues related to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the department’s rebalance to the Asia-Pacific. White received a Ph.D. with distinction from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and is a graduate of Williams College.
