Geoff Wilson

Geoff Wilson is a Distinguished Fellow and Strategic Advisor for the National Security Reform Program at the Stimson Center.

Geoff’s work focuses on issues of strategic deterrence, the new nuclear arms race, Pentagon budget, and national security politics. He is especially interested in the growth of the U.S. military budget, which has continued unconstrained despite significant failures in weapons systems design and procurement over the last 20 years, as well as the return of nuclear warfighting strategies and battlefield nuclear weapons to the world’s nuclear arsenals.

Prior to joining the Stimson Center, Geoff was the Director of the Center for Defense Information at the Project On Government Oversight, where his team worked to build a more effective and accountable national security policy. He also served as the Political Director at the Council for a Livable World where he raised money for candidates concerned about the new nuclear arms race and lobbied on behalf of a more restrained nuclear weapons strategy. He previously worked as a Policy Associate, Grants and Donor Communications Manager, and Special Assistant to the President, at Ploughshares Fund.

Geoff’s work has been cited and published widely, including in outlets such as The National Interest, Defense News, The Nation, Popular Mechanics, Salon, Science, and Defense One.
