Umar Riaz

Umar Riaz is a law enforcement
officer from Pakistan
and is associated with Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University New
York as Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow (2010-11). He is
focusing on policy issues related to Security, Transnational Crime and Rule of Law in Pakistan,
Afghanistan
and the region. He earned a Masters degree in Economics from Punjab University
Lahore and an advanced certificate in Post-Conflict Reconstruction from Syracuse University. Prior to coming to the US, Riaz
served as a federal civil servant in supervisory positions for five years in Pakistan’s Frontier Province and in tribal areas bordering Afghanistan.
