Robert Menist

Colonel Rob Menist currently serves as the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Senior Fellow at the Henry L. Stimson Center, Washington DC.  Prior to this assignment, Colonel Menist was the Commander of United States Army Garrison, Vicenza .  In this capacity he was the ‘mayor’ and ‘city planner’ of US Army bases in Italy with a supported population of over 15,000 soldiers, Dept of Army Civilians, their families and the Italian workforce.  Colonel Menist is a career Infantry officer who has served around the globe in a variety of command and staff positions including almost three years in Iraq.  He is a graduate of the Ranger, Airborne, Air Assault, Bradley Fighting Vehicle and Jungle Warfare Schools.  In addition to his tactical experience, Colonel Menist served a staff tour at the Joint Staff in the Pentagon as well as the Pacific Command Headquarters in Hawaii.  Colonel Menist holds an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley in Business Administration, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Clemson University and a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.
