Ambassador Deborah Jones vists Stimson for Chairman’s Forum

US Ambassador to Libya Deborah Jones visited the Stimson Center on Wednesday, May 21st, as a part of Stimson’s Chairman’s Forum series of speekers.  Ambassador Jones spoke with Lincoln Bloomfield, Jr. for a strategic conversation in national security and international affairs.

Libya’s political transition since the fall of Muammar Qadhafi in October 2011 has combined promise and hope with divisiveness, violence and tragedy. Succeeding Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who was killed along with three other American officials in the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack, Ambassador Deborah Jones has led the American effort to encourage Libya’s political leaders seeking national reconciliation and legitimate constitutional government. She provided a first-hand assessment of Libya’s prospects to surmount its considerable political and security challenges.
