As Japan starts the process of revising its National Security Strategy for the first time since 2013, Japan’s defense policy is on the verge of changes to reflect the security environment in the Indo-Pacific and the diverse threats that it faces. Japan’s partnerships across the Indo-Pacific, from the U.S.-Japan alliance to the Quad, will impact how Japan approaches regional challenges.
