Grading Progress on US Drone Policy

Past

In June 2014, the Stimson Task Force on U.S. Drone Policy released its report and recommendations to support a transparent and accountable U.S. drone policy that is consistent with long-term U.S. national security goals, foreign policy ideals, and commercial interests. Stimson released its follow up report, “Grading Progress on U.S. Drone Policy,” which analyzes the administration’s progress towards implementing the recommendations of the task force. The report contains a detailed report card to “grade” this progress and describes the steps taken by the administration to address existing shortcomings in U.S. law, policy, and practice. With less than a year until a new administration takes office, the report provides suggestions on future policy development to fulfill the task force’s recommendations and promote a more comprehensive and transparent U.S. drone policy.
