On February 10, 2026, just days after the White House meeting between President Trump and President Gustavo Petro of Colombia, the Stimson Center’s Latin America Program hosted a private roundtable in Washington, DC with Colombian Ambassador Daniel García-Peña. The discussion, involving former senior diplomats, civil society leaders, and scholars, focused on the strategic importance of the U.S.–Colombia relationship and the prospects for greater cooperation in fighting organized crime and supporting stabilization and recovery in Venezuela.
