Omaer Naeem

Omaer Naeem was a Junior Fellow with the South Asia Program, focusing on the Strategic Learning initiative. Omaer has prior experience interning with the Atlantic Council, The Brookings Institute, and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs. His previous work addressed climate change, foreign policy, and education in Pakistan. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a BA in International Affairs and minors in Asian American Studies and Urdu. He received Highest Honors for his senior thesis titled ‘Imagination, Performance, Expression: Unravelling Global Pakistani Identity.’ Omaer’s research interests are the construction of historical political narratives, innovative educational practice centering young people’s potential to address climate crises, and climate-induced security threats. He has fluency in Urdu and working proficiency in Spanish.
