Project
Rule of Law
Supporting U.N. efforts to rebuild police, courts, and correctional institutions in conflict affected states
About the Project
The Project on Restoring the Rule of Law supports U.N. efforts to rebuild police, courts, and correctional institutions in conflict affected states, where record numbers of personnel serve in peace operations of growing complexity and critical government functions, including criminal justice, have decayed or collapsed. The project approaches peacebuilding from a rule of law rather than a military perspective. The project supports the U.N. Police Division in developing international police peacekeeping guidance but also undertakes independent critiques of U.N. performance.
