Maxwell Scott

Max Scott is a Senior Program Manager in Microsoft’s Office of Responsible AI where he guides global teams who develop the most sensitive applications of emerging technology to develop and deploy artificial intelligence responsibly in adherence with Microsoft’s Responsible AI Standard. Max leads Microsoft’s efforts as Co-chair of the UNESCO AI business council including his longstanding work to promote inclusion in the global AI policymaking process and active engagement with multi-stakeholder communities in developing countries on AI.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Max served as an expert on responsible AI and technology policy at the U.S. Department of State where he represented the U.S. government’s views on these issues internationally, both to foreign governments and multilateral institutions like the EU and G20. He brings a unique and substantive understanding of technology policy having worked for the Whitehouse office of the U.S. Trade Representative and served as the first ever digital economy and cyber officer at U.S. Embassy, Prague.

Max currently lives in Kirkland, Washington and holds degrees from Arizona State University and the London School of Economics.
