The Impact of Multilateral Fragmentation on the Globally Vulnerable

This project seeks to extend understanding on the contributions of multilateral organizations toward peace and greater security across Africa

About the Project

Global multilateral architecture is undergoing an existential stress test. Fracturing consensus on the purpose and goals of global governance is at the heart of it. For fragile developing countries, these trends can be perilous. Multilateral institutions remain central to strengthening peace and security through conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Inadequate and incoherent multilateral policies, programs, and funding mechanisms for countering fragility risk reversing recent progress, foreclosing future opportunities for more peaceful and stable development. The impact of their success or failure in peace and security will profoundly affect the direction and pace of development among globally.

The project seeks to extend understanding on the contributions by multilateral organizations, both global and regional, toward peace and greater security across Africa, and provide ideas and recommendations to those with authority and responsibility, including national governments, the African Union, regional economic communities and major partners, while being informative to a general audience.
