The Indo-Pacific region has emerged as a key theater of engagement with the return of great power competition. China’s growing capability and influence across the Indo-Pacific provokes pressing questions for U.S. strategy in the region, as does uncertainty over the robustness and durability of the U.S.-India Partnership. With Asia undergoing major power transitions and advances in military technology potentially shifting the regional offense-defense balance, this project investigates how the United States, its allies, and its partners across the Indo-Pacific can best respond.
