Upendra Shardanand

Upendra Shardanand is a tech and media entrepreneur and investor. He is the CEO of Protagonist, a global collaboration network for professionals working in climate, health, civil society, impact, and the sciences. He previously co-founded Firefly Network, a pioneer in web social networking, personalization and privacy; Daylife, a news aggregator and publishing platform; and The Accelerator Group, a digital media VC / incubator.  He has also served as the Director of Technology for Time Warner as entrepreneur-in-residence at Samsung and consulted with companies to set up internal incubators.

A graduate of the MIT Media Lab, he is one of the inventors of collaborative filtering (“if you like this, you’ll like that”).
