With over 25 years of experience in consulting and leadership, Tyrome “Ty” Smith is an expert in understanding and navigating human and organizational dynamics. His career is marked by pioneering initiatives and transformative engagements across various sectors.
Ty has made significant contributions to the development of innovation programs, including a groundbreaking initiative for the Department of Defense. He has also coached and mentored product development teams within an internal incubator, fostering innovation and excellence. Additionally, he has supported several organizations as a faculty member or entrepreneur-in-residence, including Bowie State University and the University of Maryland Innovation Extension Program, which is an NSF I-Corps-sponsored program. He is a sought-after expert in ecosystem development, connecting historically undercapitalized founders with government, venture capital, and non-profit resources.
Beyond his contributions to academia and entrepreneurship, Ty is a highly regarded workshop presenter. His expertise covers topics such as unraveling unconscious bias, catalyzing business model innovation, and influencing audiences worldwide. He was recently inducted as a Fellow of the AK Rice Institute for the Study of Social Systems.
