Mooya Lynn Nyaundi is a Senior Advisor with the Protecting Civilians and Human Security Program at the Stimson Center, bringing more than 15 years of experience advancing human rights, democratic governance, and U.S.-Africa relations. Prior to joining Stimson, Mooya served as Advocacy Advisor for U.S. Foreign Policy on Africa at the Open Society Foundations, where she provided strategic analysis and policy guidance on political, governance, and security developments across the continent, drawing on extensive experience engaging governments, U.S Congress, multilateral institutions, civil society organizations, and diaspora communities. She has held senior management and advisory roles with the American Bar Association, Center for Human Rights and the International Republican Institute, and other organizations focused on democracy, rule of law, and human rights across Africa. A lawyer by training, Mooya holds an LL.M. in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center and an LL.B. from the University of Zimbabwe. She is a 2023 National Endowment for Democracy, Penn Kemble Fellow and a 2013 Georgetown Leadership and Advocacy for Women in Africa Fellow.
