Everlyn Asiko Chimoto

Everlyn Asiko Chimoto is a Fundamental Research Scientist at Lelapa AI and a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town, supervised by Prof. Bruce Bassett. Her research explores data- and model-efficient approaches for low-resource settings, spanning machine translation, language modeling and automatic speech recognition. She holds an MSc in Mathematical Sciences (with Distinction) from AIMS/UCT and a BSc in Computer Science (First Class Honours) from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. Everlyn is also an active member of the Masakhane community, contributing to African NLP research and organizing initiatives such as AfricaNLP and NLP@Indaba.
