Economy and Development Program, joined Ken Ballen, President of Terror
Free Tomorrow, for a discussion on resolving international security
challenges and advancing US national interest through effective foreign
aid. Ballen will discuss recent research that highlights the
relationship between foreign assistance and perceptions of the United
States. Brainard will offer a clear vision of a foreign aid system that
melds America’s short-term political concerns with long-term
development objectives to promote a more secure and prosperous global
system. Together they will address whether security can be enhanced
through development assistance and how expansive foreign assistance
reform should be to make a difference.
