Unpacking the AI Action Summit: The Future of AI Governance and the Global Digital Compact

Exploring how the Global Digital Compact—adopted at the 2024 Summit of the Future—has been featured in multipartner discussions on shaping an effective and inclusive international AI governance framework.

The Artificial Intelligence Action Summit, planned for 10 and 11 February 2025 in Paris, seeks (among other objectives) to forge an international consensus on a common foundation for global AI governance. This collaborative effort aims to construct a unified global architecture that harmonizes existing initiatives and promotes:

  1. Sustained efforts to establish a robust scientific consensus on AI technologies, their applications, and societal impacts.
  2. A framework conducive to open solutions and interoperable technical and auditing norms.
  3. A convergence of AI-specific standards and public policies.

Given that the AI Action Summit’s “Global AI Governance Track” purposely builds upon work conducted within the United Nations, this seventy-five-minute webinar will explore the extent to which the Global Digital Compact – adopted by world leaders at this past September’s Summit of the Future in New York – featured in multipartner discussions on shaping an effective and inclusive framework of international governance for AI.
