Over the past decade, the U.S.-Japan alliance has undergone significant evolution, shaped by Japan’s policy of “Proactive Contribution to Peace,” which advocates for its active involvement in upholding the peace, stability, and prosperity of the global community. As the world encounters profound geostrategic shifts, how should the United States and Japan leverage the strength of the alliance to engage like-minded partners in the Indo-Pacific and beyond to maintain the liberal international order?

Please join Yuki Tatsumi, Director of Stimson’s Japan Program, for a dialogue featuring Amb. Derek Mitchell, former U.S. Ambassador to Myanmar, and Masami Oka, former Vice Minister of Defense for International Affairs, as they explore the alliance’s strategies to uphold the liberal international order.
