The Stimson Center, in collaboration with the Office of the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States, the Caribbean Community, and the Governments of Canada and the United States, hosted an experts meeting in Kingston, Jamaica on implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540. The focus of the workshop was to highlight the benefits of 1540 implementation as it pertains to export controls and maritime security, both of which are key development issues for many Caribbean states. Representatives from twelve countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago), as well as various other regional and industry representatives, attended the workshop.
