Dr. Clifford Singer, professor
in the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign, will join us for a discussion on energy and security.
He is a coauthor of a new Stanley Foundation brief on oil and US
national security policy. Is oil really a “strategic” commodity that
requires forward basing and planning for heavy conventional war
scenarios? What are the security implications of leaving the price and
supply of oil to the international market? How important is the price
of oil to the health of the US and global economies?
