Bridging the Security and Development Divide in the Americas

Past

Stimson, the Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of
American States (OAS), Ambassador Albert Ramdin, and the Stanley
Foundation hosted a luncheon reception titled, “Bridging the security and
development divide in the Americas: a look at the past, present, and the future
implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1540.” The event highlighted the Managing Across Boundaries (MAB) program’s continued work and
progress in the region in cooperation with the OAS, the Stanley Foundation and
the Government of Finland. It also served as the launch of the latest
publication in MAB’s Beyond Boundaries series: Beyond Boundaries in the Andean Region:
Bridging the Security/Development Divide with International Security Assistance
 

The reception featured an introduction by Ellen Laipson, President and CEO, Stimson, and remarks by Ambassador Albert Ramdin,
Assistant Secretary General of the OAS, Ritva Koukku-Ronde, Ambassador of
Finland to the United States, O’Neil Hamilton, Regional Coordinator for
the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1540, the
Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and Erick Vílchez, Director of Security, the Central American Integration System (SICA).
