Ambassador Deborah Jones
U.S. Ambassador to Libya

Libya’s political transition since the fall of Muammar Qadhafi in October
2011 has combined promise and hope with divisiveness, violence and
tragedy.  Succeeding Ambassador Christopher Stevens, who was killed
along with three other American officials in the September 11, 2012 Benghazi
attack, Ambassador Deborah Jones has led the American effort to encourage
Libya’s political leaders seeking national reconciliation and legitimate
constitutional government. She will provide a first-hand assessment of
Libya’s prospects to surmount its considerable political and security
challenges.
