Elizabeth Zazycki

Elizabeth Zazycki was a Junior Fellow with the South Asia Program, focusing on South Asian Voices. Elizabeth has prior experience interning in the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Climate Hub, the Rocky Mountain Institute, and the Green New Deal Network.

Her previous work has addressed climate finance and diplomacy, energy transitions, and international aid in the Indian SubContinent. She graduated from the University of Chicago Summa Cum Laude with a BA in environmental and economic history and political science with a minor in Geographic Information Sciences. She received the highest honors and the COSAS BA Prize for her thesis titled, “Paper Work: A Bureaucratic and Spatial History of Social and Environmental Assessments in World Bank Energy Projects in India, 1980-2006.” Elizabeth was a 2023-2024 Hindi Boren Scholar in Jaipur and worked in rural economic development in Rajasthan.

Elizabeth’s research interests are at the intersection of finance, environment, and humanistic impacts, specifically how financial, human, and security risks are measured concerning development and climate change. She has a professional working proficiency in Hindi.
