Hidehiro Shiratani is a Visiting Fellow of the Japan Program at the Stimson Center. He is a Lt. Colonel in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF). He has mainly served in research and development programs for several years. His research focuses on strengthening policies and systems about “Countermeasures Japan should adopt for Supply Chain Risks in Defense Equipment,” necessary to further enhance the U.S.-Japan alliance and Japan’s partnership with friendly nations and regions.
He holds a BE in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the National Defense Academy of Japan and an MS in Mining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in the United States.
