On December 16, 2025, following Chile’s presidential election, the Stimson Center’s Latin America Program hosted a private roundtable in Washington, DC with Chilean Ambassador Juan Gabriel Valdés. The conversation reflected on the implications of the election, the future of U.S.–Latin America relations, and Ambassador Valdés’s contributions to strengthening U.S.–Chile ties ahead of his return to Chile in early 2026.
