In this online talk, Stimson Center Southeast Asia Program Director Brian Eyler discusses how the mighty Mekong River is now at a point of ecological crisis. The talk gives an overview to impacts of dams and other human interventions on the Mekong’s once-thriving fisheries and agricultural sectors and discusses from a security and ecological perspective why the Mekong’s resources must be conserved. Brian also discusses Stimson’s efforts in the Mekong including the positive impacts delivered by the Mekong Dam Monitor over the first six months of 2021.
