Mekong Dam Monitor Featured on NBC Nightly News

Brian Eyler discusses the Mekong Dam Monitor and the impact of dams on people and countries located downstream.

Featuring  Brian Eyler

On January 14, Director of the Southeast Asia Program Brian Eyler joined NBC Senior International Correspondent Keir Simmons to discuss how the Mekong Dam Monitor puts a spotlight on the way China’s dams are harming downstream Mekong countries, vulnerable communities, and ecosystems. Brian Eyler shows how the tool provides near-real time data on the dams and their impact on the lower Mekong region and allows these local governments and communities to make informed decisions and adapt to their changing environments

The Stimson Southeast Asia Program advised the NBC News team on filming locations in Thailand – from fishing villages to elephant camps – which highlight the recent issues of the Mekong region.
