Michael Beck is a Nonresident Fellow at Stimson with the Trade, Technology, and Security program. His areas of expertise are WMD nonproliferation, export controls, and sanctions. Beck is a founder and Vice President of TradeSecure, LLC. a global advisory firm focused on export control, FDI, sanctions, and trade compliance solutions. Previously, Beck served as Executive Director and as a Senior Research Associate at the University of Georgia’s Center for International Trade and Security. Beck has over 25 years of experience conducting research and international outreach on nonproliferation and export controls and has worked in over 30 countries. Beck has directed numerous international nonproliferation and export control outreach projects for the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of State, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Commerce. He has also supported the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, C-TPAT Program Office with international supply chain security analysis. Beck is the author of numerous publications on international efforts to prevent WMD and weapons proliferation. He speaks Russian and Spanish fluently. Beck earned his B.A. in Russian/International Studies from Emory University and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in international relations.
