Lieutenant Colonel Mark R. Ely

Lieutenant Colonel Mark R.
Ely is the Air Force Fellow at the Stimson
Center.  He previously served as Deputy Commander, 5th
Operations Group, and Commander, 23d Bomb Squadron, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.  In this capacity, he was responsible for
providing combat-ready B-52 aircrews for strategic deterrence, crisis response,
global power projection, and major theater missions.  Lt Col Ely is a Senior Pilot with over 3200
flying hours in the B-52.
