Türkiye has overcome many challenges over the span of 6 decades in order to secure its first operational nuclear power plant. Türkiye’s relationship with the international nuclear community, norms, and laws shapes its security responsibilities, but the country will face additional nuclear security challenges, such as terrorism threats, security issues, and nuclear smuggling risks, as Türkiye further expands its nuclear power portfolio.

Join Ali Alkış, author of the policy memo, Nuclear Security for Nuclear Newcomers: Exploring Türkiye’s Readiness and the International Nuclear Security Forum  for a virtual discussion on Türkiye’s nuclear security status and his thoughts on how Türkiye can best identify and manage potential threats to its burgeoning nuclear infrastructure.

Featured Speaker

Ali Alkış, World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) Ambassador to Türkiye and a PhD candidate at Hacettepe University, Türkiye

Moderator
