Join Stimson’s Defense Strategy and Planning program in welcoming Thomas Wright and Michael Kofman, who will discuss their recent studies on US and NATO efforts to confront Russia short of war.
In recent years, the US and its NATO allies have become increasingly alarmed by Russia’s willingness to advance its foreign policy objectives through military force. The Russo-Georgian War of 2008, and Russia’s intervention in the Ukrainian Civil War and subsequent annexation of Crimea have reminded NATO of the importance of its original purpose of collective defense. Wright and Kofman will discuss Russian revanchism, and US/NATO efforts to deter further Russian aggression and counter its efforts to coerce its neighbors.
