On May 26, 2010, Alison Giffen was asked to testify before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Subcommittee on African Affairs for the hearing entitled: “Assessing Challenges and Opportunities for Peace in Sudan.” With field experience in Sudan and extensive knowledge of the country’s conflicts and humanitarian crises, Giffen provided a sobering account of the various threats to civilians in the North and South.
