Stimson Center Welcomes Back Cindy Vestergaard to Head New Converging Technology and Global Security Program

Washington, DC – The Stimson Center is pleased to announce the return of Cindy Vestergaard as Senior Fellow and Director of the organization’s new Converging Technology and Global Security Program.

Vestergaard previously served as Senior Fellow and Director of the Stimson Center’s Blockchain in Practice and Nuclear Safeguards programs. In 2022, Vestergaard served as Vice President of Special Projects and External Relations at Datatrails (formerly RKVST), which leverages cryptography and distributed ledger technology to enhance trust in digital content and supply chains. Throughout, Vestergaard maintained her connection with the Stimson Center as a Nonresident Fellow, continuing to contribute her insights and expertise. Read Cindy’s full bio.

A leading expert in the intersection of technology and global security, as head of the Converging Technology and Global Security Program, Vestergaard will leverage her wealth of knowledge and expertise to navigate the complex landscape of emerging global challenges. The program will expand upon the pioneering work of the Blockchain in Practice program, promising to explore how innovative technologies like blockchain, in addition to artificial intelligence, 3D printing, genetic engineering, nuclear technologies, and more, can reshape international security.
