Stimson’s Strategic Trade Controls cited in CaribSeek News on O’Neil Hamilton Joining SCAD

KINGSTON (JIS) — The United Nations Security Council Affairs Division (SCAD) has approved the nomination of Mr. O’Neil Hamilton to its Roster of Experts which advises the United Nations Security Council.

Mr. Hamilton, who was nominated by the Government of Jamaica, is the first such nominee from a CARICOM Member State with a focus on non-proliferation and terrorism and joins a roster of selected professionals from Member States of the United Nations with strategic policy and technical experience relevant to the work of the UN Security Council’s subsidiary organs, including the Sanctions Committees, Monitoring Groups and Working Groups.

In partnership with the Stimson Center, Harvard University’s Kennedy School and the International Trade and Investment Law Practicum at Georgetown University’s Law Center, the CARICOM 1540 Programme is also developing a Strategic Trade Controls (STCs) framework and related legislative and regulatory instruments to prevent chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) proliferation in the region.
