Written by Zhang Zhixin, an Assistant Professor at China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) (American Studies) in Beijing and previous Visiting Fellow at The Henry L. Stimson Center, this paper investigates the institutionalization of China Studies within America and discusses current attitudes among China scholars toward their chosen field and Sino-U.S. relations.  It also offers advice for policy makers and area experts in both China and America.

This article was published in CICIR’s English language journal ‘Contemporary International Relations’ in February 2008.
