Ziri Issa

Ziri Issa is an accomplished professional and visionary leader in the field of technology and innovation. With a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Maseno University, Ziri currently holds the position of Head of Technology and Innovation at Swahilipot Hub Foundation, where he is dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation in Mombasa, Kenya. Additionally, he serves as the Data Platform Lead for the Global Opportunity Youth Network – Mombasa, showcasing exceptional leadership skills by spearheading the development of a comprehensive database that connects over 15,000 youth to valuable opportunities. Ziri is a driving force in establishing a data-driven culture in Mombasa. He leads an initiative of training over 900 youth on data management, where youth are empowered with digital skills. Collaborating with UN-Habitat and the County Government of Mombasa, Ziri played a pivotal role in reviewing and developing baseline systemic indicators for the city, using the Urban Monitoring Framework. Moreover, his diverse expertise as a technology consultant for local and international companies brings valuable insights into driving business growth and operational efficiency. Outside of his professional endeavours, Ziri actively contributes to open-source projects, such as the Mozilla Common Voice initiative where he contributes and validates Swahili sentences to help AI systems learn Swahili naturally.
