David Egner is director of communications at Stimson. The
Communications Department informs external audiences about Stimson research and
analysis by working with the news media, overseeing the Stimson website, and working
with researchers on publications and events.
Egner began his career as a newspaper reporter for the
Democrat and Chronicle in Rochester, N.Y.
He then worked as a reporter for The Associated Press in Oklahoma City;
Pierre, S.D.; and Albany, N.Y., primarily covering state governments.
Since 1987 Egner has worked in communications positions,
including for then-New York Gov. Mario M. Cuomo, the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development, a crisis communications firm, the RAND Corporation, and
as head of his own communications firm. Much of his work at RAND involved
publicizing research on foreign policy and national security issues.
Egner is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
